BEIJING,(Xinhua). The 15th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL) began its sixth plenary session here on Monday to study the important instructions by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Wang Zhaoguo, a former CCYL leader and a current member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the session on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.
He called on CCYL members to uphold the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, play a role as reinforcements in full scale and to strive hard for achieving new victories in building an overall prosperous society.
Wang, also the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, confirmed the CCLY’s achievements over the past year. He called for all CCYL members to grasp the essence of the 17th CPC Congress and further implement the Scientific Concept of Development.
Prior to the opening session, Wang met with outgoing standing members, members and alternate members of the CCYL Central Committee.
The session was presided over by Hu Chunhua, the first secretary of the CCYL Central Committee. It was scheduled to last through Wednesday, according to the CCYL Central Committee website.
The CCYL, which was established in 1922 and now has 73.5 million members, is an organization of advanced youths under the leadership of the CPC.
